During his visit to China Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov invited executive chiefs of the Chinese special administrative districts Macau and Hong Kong Edmund Ho and Tung Chee Hwa to visit Russia.
The dates of the visits will be coordinated via diplomatic channels, the Russian foreign ministry said on Wednesday.
During his official visit to Hong Kong and Macau on July 29-30 Ivanov held meetings with heads of the both Chinese districts.
At the meeting with Tung Chee Hwa the parties discussed cooperation between Russia and Hong Kong, a prospective increase of Hong Kong investments to the Russian economy, as well as possibilities of bilateral interaction within the Asian-Pacific economic cooperation forum, APEC. Ivanov urged Hong Kong partners to intensify their role on the Russian market and to develop mutually profitable cooperation with Russian regions.
The parties agreed on establishing cooperation in counteracting terrorism.
At the meeting with Edmund Ho the parties touched upon expansion of direct trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Macau, development of tourist exchange and inter-regional links. They agreed on the existence of a significant potential for cooperation, including small and medium businesses. The Macau chief expressed his interest in using Russian experience in technological research.
