Russia's Foreign Ministry, U.S. State department representatives ponder military-political cooperation

In Moscow on Tuesday Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgi Mamedov and American Undersecretary of State John Bolton discussed concrete aspects of work on military-political agreement reached at the Russian-American summit meeting in Moscow last May.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Russian side focused on preparations for the first session of the joint consultative group on strategic security. Its formation was provided for in the statement of presidents Vladimir Putin and George Bush on new strategic relations between the two countries signed at the May summit. The group's session will be held in Washington in September.

Mamedov and Bolton have also considered preparations for the start of the Russian-American talks on implementing the plan for global partnership against the spread of mass destruction arms and materials. The plan was adopted at the recent G8 summit in Kananaskis.
