Commonwealth of Independent States becoming organization similar to Council of Europe - EurAsEC Deputy Secretary General

The Commonwealth of Independent States "is becoming more like the Council of Europe," EURASEC Deputy Secretary General Nigmatjan Isingarin said at a press conference in Moscow on Tuesday.

According to him, the economic integration failed in the CIS. Those Commonwealth member countries, which desired a closer integration, established EURASEC - an international economic organization, whioch united Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.

Isingarin called the Russo-Belorus Union State a still more developed pattern of integrational cooperation.

In the perspective the CIS will tackle the post-Soviet states' common problems, including regional security, political interaction, cultural cooperation, etc., the EURASEC deputy secretary general believes.

The Eurasian economic community was established on the basis of five Customs Union states in October, 2000. The idea to establish EURASEC belongs to Nursultan Nazarbayev, President of Kazakhstan.
