Experts to examine Tu-154 and Boeing fragments

German rescuers are planning to collect the bulk of plane fragments by Friday evening. Some of the large fragments were moved to a special hangar at the airport of Friedrichshafen on Thursday, a source in the chief police office of Baden-Wuerttemberg said by telephone. This work will be continued on Friday. Simultaneously, rescue teams will search for smaller fragments.

All fragments will be carefully examined by a special commission consisting of German, Russian and American experts. If necessary, they will reconstruct both jets in order to remodel the collision, said the source. Later on, the fragments of the Tu-154 and the Boeing will be either utilized or handed over to Russia and the USA accordingly.

As of this moment, the site of the crash is being scoured by more than 600 police officers, cynologists, firefighters, rescuers and technical specialists. /Yesterday, the search was conducted by more than 1300 people./ The search also involves helicopters.

The tragedy occurred on July 2 above the Boden See area, Germany. Two jets, a Russian Tu-154 liner belonging to Bashkir Airlines and a Boeing-757 cargo aircraft belonging to DHL company collided head-on at an altitude of 11,000 meters. The crash killed all 12 crew and 57 passengers on board the Tupolev and the 2 pilots on board the Boeing. Of the passengers, 52 were children headed for a summer vacation in Spain.
