Russian and Moldovan Foreign Ministers discuss CIS integration processes

Russian and Moldovan Foreign Ministers, Igor Ivanov and Nikolai Dudau, had a meeting on Thursday morning within the framework of the Council of the CIS Foreign Ministers to discuss the development of the integration processes in the CIS member-countries, especially in the context of the recent granting Moldova the status of an observer in the EurAsEc, said official spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Alexander Yakovenko.

According to him, the sides specially "underscored the importance of implementing the Friendship and Cooperation Treaty signed by the Russian Federation and the Republic of Moldova." The Foreign Ministers of the two countries also discussed a broad range of issues of bilateral cooperation, including the problem of the Dniester settlement.

Apart from that, the Ministers signed the plan for consultations between the two Foreign Ministries for 2002 and the Protocol on compiling joint collected archives of diplomatic documents.

According to Alexander Yakovenko, the meeting "took place in a trustful atmosphere."
