Chinese Imports From Russia Grow By 125 Percent

In the first two months of this year Chinese imports from Russia grew by 125 percent year on year and are estimated at USD 1.407 billion. According to the data provided by the Main Customs Department of the People's Republic of China, Beijing purchases from Russia mainly metals, chemicals, mineral resources and fertilizer, paper and cardboard. Since the beginning of 2001 China imported from Russia metals and articles thereof for a total amount of USD 269.819 million, chemicals - at USD 123.479 million, mineral resources - at USD 62.595 million, paper and cardboard - at USD 120.584 million, and animals and animal husbandry products - at USD 36.495 million.
