Russian foreign minister about relations between Russia and Kuwait

Special envoy of Kuwait's emir Saud Nasir al-Sabah has handed over to Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov a message to President Vladimir Putin from the emir of Kuwait. Al-Sabah stated on Monday at the meeting with Igor Ivanov that Kuwait wanted Moscow to be the first capital where an emir's special representative would arrive with his message. This reflects the striving of Kuwait's leaders to develop relations with Russia in trade, economic and political spheres, he said. Al-Sabah thanked Russian foreign minister for the fact that Moscow determined its position with the reception of a special envoy within a short period of time. Igor Ivanov said in his turn that Russia attaches great importance to the development of relations with Kuwait, which have intensified of late. "We are interested in our bilateral relations contributing to stabilisation of the situation in the Persian Gulf", he said. According to Ivanov, Russia has made and will go on with efforts to normalise the situation in the Persian Gulf and stabilise relations between the Persian Gulf states. "I am ready to discuss all these questions," Igor Ivanov pointed out.
