Uzbekistan puts a ban on meat imports from eu countries

Uzbekistan has put a ban on meat and meat products imports from the EU countries. A staff has been set up at the Main Veterinary Department to prevent foot-and-mouth disease from entering the country. Meat and meat products imports were brought under strict control of veterinary and sanitary services. The health care ministry of Uzbekistan informed RIA Novosti that the aforementioned services are seriously concerned about local outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease among animals in conterminous countries - Kirghizia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. Additional safety measures are being taken in the republic, all border check points are equipped with required insecticide means, over 5,000 veterinary surgeons do their best not to allow the dangerous infection to penetrate the territory of Uzbekistan, the health care ministry stressed.
