Heads Of Emergencies Ministries And Departments To Meet In Dushanbe

On Friday Dushanbe will host a meeting of the heads of emergencies ministries and departments of the Central Asian region to discuss rendering humanitarian aid to the population of Afghanistan and neighbouring states, the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry reported on Thursday. The meeting will be attended by the Emergencies Ministers of Tajikistan, Kirghizia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenia and Russia. The Russian delegation will be headed by Russian Emergencies Minister Sergei Shoigu. There are plans to discuss these countries' coordination and cooperation in the transportation of humanitarian cargoes: opening and using air spaces and air fields, creating favourable conditions for the delivery of cargoes by railway and cars and cargo security. The participants will also consider cooperation with representatives of UN humanitarian institutions and other international non-governmental organisations and the provision of security to participants in humanitarian actions. "Actually, the discussion will centre on the formation of a regional humanitarian coalition to enable the countries concerned to run bilateral and multilateral humanitarian programmes," Yury Brazhnikov, deputy emergencies minister of Russia, said before flying out to Dushanbe.
