King Carl XVI Gustaf Of Sweden And Queen Silvia Arrive In St. Petersburg

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and Queen Silvia flew to St. Petersburg by a Swedish air force plane. Viktor Cherkesov, Authorized Representative of the Russian President in the North-Western federal district, St. Petersburg Governor Vladimir Yakovlev with his wife, Chairman of St. Petersburg Legislative Assembly Sergei Tarasov met the royal couple at the Pulkovo airport. Russian Vice Premier, Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin is accompanying the royal couple on its visit to St. Petersburg. They came to St. Peterburg aboard one plane. Upon their arrival in St. Pete, the King and Queen of Sweden will lay wreaths to the Monument to heroic Leningrad Defenders in the period of the German-fascist blockade during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).
