Gennady Seleznev, Chairman of the Russian State Duma (Lower House of parliament) arrived in Bishkek on a three-day official visit on Wednesday. The main subject to be discussed during Gennady Seleznev's meetings with the country's leadership will be cooperation between Russia and Kirghizia in combating international terrorism. The head of the Lower Chamber of the Russian Parliament is expected to deliver a report in which he will, in particular, set forth the State Duma's stand on the actions of retaliation contemplated by the USA. Commenting on the possibility of intensifying Russian military presence in the region, Seleznev said that "within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Russia will use as many forces as the situation will require." The Lower House speaker is also planning to discuss with the leadership of Kirghizia trade and economic cooperation, the general situation in the region and the position of the Russian-speaking population of the republic.
