British Diplomats Expected In Kabul Within Days

British diplomats will arrive in Kabul within a few days, announced the Foreign Office press spokesman. Leading the "small team" will be Stephen Evans, chief of the Foreign Office South Asian desk, in envoy's rank. Upon arrival, Mr. Evans is to come into contact with spokesmen of all political forces and ethnic entities to promote the establishment of a broad-based Afghan government. The diplomats are expected to put up on the now abandoned British Embassy premises.
