Foreign Ministers Of Countries Party To Collective Security Treaty Gather In Moscow

The current developments in the world and in the immediate vicinity to the borders of the countries party to the Collective Security Treaty /DKB/ have fully confirmed the vital importance of the Treaty, said Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov opening a session of the DKB foreign ministers in Moscow Wednesday. In his words, the DKB parties were not taken by surprise by the unprecedented challenge of international terrorism, thanks to the progress made within the Treaty. Ivanov also believes that the specific steps the DKB countries took to set up regional collective security systems, to develop military-technical cooperation and form rapid deployment forces make it possible to influence tangibly the situation in the sphere of security. It is not by a mere chance that these efforts have been recognised as an element of the international anti-terror campaign. At the same time, the foreign minister emphasised, the efforts can still be intensified.
