Nazarbayev: Kazakhstan Has No Debts

Kazakhstan is an example of a country with virtually no foreign debts, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at a press conference in Moscow Thursday. Having described his country's economic developments as positive, Nazarbayev underscored that Astana "owes nobody anything." "Kazakhstan's gold and currency reserves make 4.5 billion dollars, against its foreign debt of 3.5 billion," he explained. Commenting on recent reshuffles in the Kazakh cabinet, Nazarbayev claimed that he had "dismissed those cabinet members who wanted to go in for politics." He stressed that no actual faction occurred in the top power bodies. "They decided to support the right-wing movement. Law demands that members of the cabinet who disagree with its policy must leave," Nazarbayev said.
