Russian President: CIS Leaders To Focus Their Attention On Combating Terrorism Until The Problem Is Fully Resolved

CIS leaders will concentrate on the problem of combating terrorism until it is fully resolved, Russian president Vladimir Putin told a Kremlin press conference on Friday, when the CIS summit was over. He pointed out that the CIS countries came across the manifestations of terrorism "earlier than many other states". That is why we could work to pre-empt its further development, Putin said. He also stated that the CIS countries coordinated their positions on the key issues of combating terrorism in due time. In particular, the president pointed out, the anti-terror centre and rapid deployment forces have been created. The president as chairman of the Council of CIS Heads of State expressed confidence that the problem of combating terrorism can be solved efficiently within the framework of the Commonwealth. President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmonov declared in the course of the concluding press conference in the Kremlin that the stance of Dushanbe on combating terrorism "fully coincides with the opinion of the Russian Federation. He also noted that Russia and Tajikistan are doing "very serious work in this direction" on a bilateral basis. Rakhmonov stressed that Tajikistan knows about "international terrorism not by hearsay". Now, he believes, the struggle against terrorism "is the world's problem No. 1.
