Ukrainian President Decrees To Transit Russian Peace-keepers Via His Country

Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma has decreed to transit Russian peace-keeping contingents through Ukrainian territory. The decree was adopted two weeks ago by the Ukrainian parliament on the presidential initiative. The decree allows the transportation of special trains with Russian peace-keepers from Kosovo and their military hardware by the Ukrainian railways from the border with Hungary to the Russian border. The Russian side will take the expense of the transportation. The document lays a particular stress on the fact that the permission for the Russian contingent to move via Ukraine does not run counter to Ukraine's national interests and its international commitments.
