Negotiations Between Igor Ivanov And Uzbek Leaders To Focus On Trade And Economic Cooperation

The coming Wednesday negotiations between Igor Ivanov and Uzbek leaders will focus on trade and economic cooperation, Russian Foreign Ministry's official spokesman Alexander Yakovenko told RIA Novosti. According to him, they are to discuss the implementation of practical agreements achieved between the Russian and Uzbek presidents in Moscow in May 2001. Russia is the most important trade and economic partner of Uzbekistan, said the diplomat. About 18 per cent of the Uzbek foreign trade falls on Russia. Yakovenko believes that the agreement on the development of economic cooperation for 1998-2007 is being successfully implemented. In addition, there is the Joint Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation.
