Representatives Of The European Commission Will Visit Moscow

High-ranking representatives of the European Commission (EC) - commissioner for external relations Chris Patten and commissioner for trade Pascal Lamy - on Tuesday arrive in Moscow on an official visit to discuss trade and economic cooperation, RIA Novosti was told in the European Commission's mission in the Russian Federation. On Wednesday the commissioners will meet with members of the State Duma (lower house of parliament). Apart from that, the working group of a high level for the common European economic space will have its first meeting under the chairmanship of Russian Vice Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko and Chris Patten. Pascal Lamy will meet that day with Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation German Gref and the leadership of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and also will speak in the Diplomatic Academy on the theme: "Brussels, Moscow, Doha: Prospects of International Trade." Apart from that, it is expected that on December 5, Chris Patten and Pascal Lamy will meet with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov. On Thursday, December 6, the commissioners of the European Commission will return to Brussels.
