Islamic World League Condemns Israeli Airstrikes Against Palestinian Targets

The Islamic World League issued a statement Tuesday to condemn Israel's latest airstrikes against Palestinian targets, describing the attacks as "state terror." The League, which has its headquarters in the holy Moslem city of Mecca, expressed surprise that countries and organizations across the world did not react against Israel's state terrorism. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon should be held responsible for the bloodshed and the killings of Palestinians, the statement emphasized. The League urged the United Nations and international human rights organizations to conduct an investigation of what it terms as Israel's crimes. The organization, whose aim is the consolidation of Islamic unity and solidarity, demands that Sharon be court-martialed as a war criminal.
