Russian Aviation Group Settles Down at Kyrgyz Air Base in Kant

The Russian aviation group stationed at the air base in the Kyrgyz city of Kant will include Su-27 fighters, Su-25 attack planes, L-39 and An-26 planes, as well as Mi-8 helicopters.

Commander of the 5th Air Force and Air Defence Army Lieutenant General Yevgeny Yuryev has been put in charge of the group's accommodation.

During the working visit of the Russian military delegation headed by Air Force Commander-in-Chief, Colonel General Vladimir Mikhailov, to Kyrgyzstan on March 14-16, the parties co-ordinated the main clauses of the draft inter-state agreement on the status and deployment conditions of the Russian air base.

According to Mikhailov, all facilities at the Kant aerodrome that will be given to the Russian party are geared up for action.
