Nigeria: Ethnic Conflict Erupts

Armed conflict between farmers and nomads in north-eastern Nigeria caused around 110 deaths, according to Pravda.Ru sources in the region, connected to the Red Cross.

This organisation added that there are a further 500 people wounded, some seriously and some 21,000 dislocated, who fled when hundreds of homes were torched.

Ethnic violence in northern Nigeria causes hundreds of deaths last year. This time, the violence was sparked off when shepherds from the Fulani tribe attacked local farmers in the village of Dumne, in the state of Adanawa. According to sources in the Federal Police Department, many of these were women and children.
