Canadian satellite Nimic-2, launched by a Russian rocket-carrier, reaches the target orbit

The Canadian telecommunications satellite Nimic-2, which was launched on Monday, December 30th, at 02:17 a.m., Moscow time, from the Baikonur cosmodrome with help of the Russian carrier-rocket Proton-M and the Briz-M booster, at 09:10 a.m., Moscow time, reached the target elliptical orbit whose distance from the Earth amounts to 35,793x7,707 kilometres.

The information has come from the press service of the Russian Space Force.

The Nimic-2 satellite, whose take-off mass amounts to 3.6 tons, is meant to ensure radio and digital television broadcasting for the users all across Canada and the continental part of the United States. Its total service life is expected to last for at least fifteen years.
