Russia and Lithuania May Sign Travel Agreement on December 27

An agreement on the reciprocal travel rights of Russians and Lithuanians is expected to be signed on December 27. This was announced by Governor of the Kaliningrad Region Vladimir Yegorov after a meeting in Moscow with Special Presidential Envoy Dmitrii Rogozin.

According to Mr Yegorov, the document will not contain any changes to previous agreements and Russians will be able to travel by transit across Lithuania with their foreign and internal passports. As for those in the services, the governor advised them to obtain their civilian passports quickly as identity cards will only be accepted for travel across Lithuania until February 2003.
