Turkmen capital hosts drug control conference

Signatory countries of a memorandum of mutual understanding on regional drug control partnership opened their 4th conference in Ashgabat, Turkmen capital, today.

Delegates of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, of international agencies, specialised institutes and programme donor countries gathered under the joint aegis of the Turkmen government and the United Nations anti-drug agency.

The conferees will debate a wide range of issues for joint monitoring of illegal production, traffic and abuse of narcotic and psychotropic substances and precursors.

On the opening conference day, spokesmen of the memorandum signatory countries offered national reports on the current situation and prospects of anti-drug team efforts.

The conference will go on tomorrow.
