While visiting Poland, Sergei Mironov, the Chairman of Russia's Council of Federation, was received by Alexander Kwasnewski, the President. According to the press service of Russia's senate, Mr. Kwasnewski and Mr. Mironov discussed issues pertaining to cooperation between the two countries, integration, and the Kaliningrad Region.
'In the 21st century, old stereotypes are out of place. As to the place of Russia, it is definitely in the larger Europe', Sergei Mironov said. The President of Poland replied to the effect that he understood Russia's position and agreed by saying he could not imagine Europe without Russia in the new century.
Mr. Cheryomukhin, the head of the senate's press service, said that also discussed during this visit were European security and entrance and transit visas. Polish politicians are afraid that no visas may result in increased drug trafficking and uncontrolled mass migrations.
