Milosevic's lawyer: Charges against Milosevic of committing crimes against humanity in Kosovo to be dropped

The lawyer of Slobodan Milosevic, Zdenko Tomasevic, believes that the charges against the Yugoslavian ex-President of crimes against humanity will be dropped, he said on Monday in an interview with the Belgrade newspaper Vecerne Novosti.

After last witnesses' appearance, Tomasevic expects an acquittal, he said. This conclusion may be drawn from the document Milosevic's judicial aides have received access to, he explained.

Meanwhile the charges of genocide and other crimes in Croatia, as well as in Bosnia and Hertzegovina, are to be brought against the ex-President on September 30th, the lawyer reported. According to him, Slobodan Milosevic has received the 97,000-page materials of the case for studying. It would take at least a year to carefully read the content. The fact that the first hearing is scheduled for September 30th raises a reasonable question whether the Hague tribunal needs Milosevic's answers and establishment of the truth, Tomasevic said.
