40 persons accused by Hague Tribunal to be tried in Bosnia

The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia has made a decision to transfer to Bosnia the conduct of judicial proceedings against 40 persons accused by the Tribunal of war crimes.

According to a RIA Novosti correspondent, this information was disclosed on Monday by a local prosecutor's office spokesman in the Bosnian town of Travnik. According to him, the Hague Tribunal has already transferred 30 out of 40 cases.

Still, there is an apprehension that these proceedings might be delayed, because the local prosecutor's office lacks prosecutors. Last year the High Representative to Bosnia prohibited the appointment of new prosecutors.
