Doctors Without Borders ceases aid work in North Caucasus indefinitely

The Doctors Without Borders international organization has ceased its workin the North Caucasus for an indefinite period. A representative of theorganization's office in Moscow told RBC that this decision was made today.The reason for this decision was the abduction of Arjan Erkel, the head ofthe organization's mission in Daghestan, on August 12 of this year.According to the organization's representative, "the organization isseriously worried about Arjan's fate and is appealing to his kidnappers,whoever they were, not to do him any harm and to release him unharmed."Doctors Without Borders has already ceased its work in Chechnya since July29 of this year in response to the abduction of Nina Davydovich, head ofthe Druzhba aid group, there..
