End of Taleban means end of classes

42,000 children have been able to continue their classes after the fall of the Taleban regime in Afghanistan, after teachers walked out because their salaries have not been paid.

The teachers’ salaries had not been paid for eight months, which resulted in the closure of 170 schools, affecting 42,000 children in Herat, north-western Afghanistan. The blocked payment arose out of a dispute over who should pay – the central government in Kabul or the regional authority, Herat.
