NATO redeploys military hardware from Bulgaria to Georgia

US military hardware will take part in Noble Partner drills on May 11-26 near the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. The hardware will be delivered to Georgia from Bulgaria, officials with the Georgian Defense Ministry said.

US Abrams M1A2 tanks arrived from Bulgaria to the Georgian port of Poti by ferry along with M1A2 Bradley fighting vehicles and infantry.

The Noble Partner drills will be held in Georgia for the second time. The purpose of the drills is to "increase the level of training of hundreds of Georgian troops at NATO Response Force (NRF)," officials said. As many as 650 troops of the European Command of the US Armed Forces, 500 Georgian soldiers and 150 British military men will take part in the military exercises.

Last year, about 400 Georgian and 200 US military personnel were involved in the Noble Partner drills.
