The head of the parliamentary faction Fatherland, one of the leaders of Maidan opposition, Arseny Yatseyuk, has been appointed for the position of the Prime Minister of Ukraine. As many as 371 deputies have voted for his candidacy.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has also formed the ruling coalition called "European Choice." The coalition includes deputies from Fatherland, Freedom, UDAR parties and two groups of parliamentarians formed on the base of Party of Regions: "Economic Development" and "Sovereign European Ukraine." There are 250 deputies in the faction.
Previously, the leader of Fatherland had refused from the position of the president and returned his deputy mandate.
The prime minister will thus have to offer his ministerial candidates to Acting President Alexander Turchynov.
Before coming to power, Yatsenyuk served as the Economic Minister in 2005-2006 and then took office of the Foreign Minister in 2007. At the presidential election of 2010, he came 4th with seven percent of votes.
