CNN censors Syrian part of interview with Russian diplomat

CNN, the largest news channel in the United States was exposed of censorship. The television version of the interview with Russia's Ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin, was considerably cut to remove the diplomat's answers to two very important questions about Syria.

In particular, CNN editors cut the question on the role that President Assad could play in the peaceful regulation of the Syrian conflict.

"It will be up for the Syrians to decide. Reality is that many Syrians, most of the Syrian population, support President Assad, and one should take this into account. So let's start a dialogue and let the Syrians choose the way to end this conflict," the Russian politician said.

CNN also cut the piece of the interview, where Churkin spoke against the preliminary conditions that the Syrian opposition set forth to launch talks in Geneva. One of these requirements is a guarantee of Assad's resignation from his post.

The full text of the interview was published on the official website of the Russian Ambassador to the UN, while the CNN website published the edited version.
