Poland: Rottweilers savage child

A savage attack by three Rottweiler dogs in a park in Poland has left the nation in shock, as calls are made to bring in drastic new laws on the handling and ownership of dangerous dogs.

A seven-year-old girl was so badly mauled by the three animals that she was unrecognisable. The incident took place in a park in the town of Reda, near Gdansk in northern Poland. Her mother was nearby but by the time she noticed what was happening, she could do nothing to save her daughter.

Veterinary surgeons called in by the police gave the dogs a lethal injection.
