Storm kills 4 in Ukraine

A powerful storm has swept through western Ukraine, killing four people and injuring five others.

Local emergency officials say the storm hit the western Lviv region Monday afternoon. Dozens of buildings were damaged by fallen trees, set on fire by lightning and several towns were left without power.

In the city of Lviv located about 550 kilometers (340 miles) west of the capital Kiev, a woman in her 20s was killed by a window torn out of an apartment building. Two people were killed by lightning as they were raking hay in a village and a man was killed in a building collapse in a town in the province.

Authorities said Tuesday they were scrambling to clean up the city, restore power supply and provide aid to victims.
