Robert "Lute" Olson to resume coaching

Robert Luther "Lute" Olson comes back to Arizona. The men's basketball head coach at the University of Arizona in Tucson decided to resume coaching.

On the 4th of November, 2007, Olson was absent from the Wildcats' pre-season opener. It was announced that Robert Olson had taken an indefinite leave of absence from the team. The school said that the leave was not health related. But according to Arizona 's news release, Olson had a medical condition during his leave of absence that he had to resolve this season.

In December it was announced that Olson would miss the entire 2007-08 season and would only return for the 2008-09 season.

Now when Olson is back, the Wildcats will be under his command till the end of his contract, which expires in 2011. O'Neill is named as Olson's designated successor upon his retirement.

There is left only one thing – to rebuild the frame and the philosophy the Wildcats learned under O'Neill, who preferred running man-to-man and not zone defense, and who limited the players' offensive freedom.

Both sides are full of enthusiasm and hopes about the future of the Wildcats and their advance to the NCAA tournament.
