The acclaimed director, in a French newspaper interview, said shooting for "My Blueberry Night" was to begin this summer, presenting a conflict for cherished family time, the AP reports.
"I am disappointed because the filming of my movie is going to prevent me from watching the World Cup with my son," Wong told Le Monde daily, referring to the June 9-July 9 soccer tournament in Germany.
The U.S.-produced film tells "the story of a woman who takes the long route instead of the short one to meet up with the man she loves," said Wong, who is heading the jury at the Cannes film festival.
Wong, whose "In the Mood or Love" became art-house hit, said Tinseltown wouldn't get the better of him. "Even if it is in the United States, and within the Hollywood system, I am remaining myself."
