British passport-holders forbidden to say 'cheese'

The British authorities changed the passport registration order as a preventive measure to fight terrorism. According to new regulations, an individual is supposed to show his or her full face with a neutral expression and a closed mouth. New guidelines have wiped the smile off the face of British passport holders.

Great Britain is introducing new e-passports next year. A passport holder's picture will be placed in an electronic chip. It was forbidden to smile because scanners at the customs will be able to identify only close-mouthed photographs. Sunglasses and hair slanting across the eyes is excluded as well.
