Woman finds her husband deaf and dumb after wedding

The Shariat court in Ras al-Khaimah (United Arab Emirates) dissolved the marriage next day after the wedding on wife's request. All of a sudden, the woman discovered her husband was deaf and dumb, local newspaper the Gulf News reported Sunday.

The bride told the judge, the family of her would-be husband intentionally deceived her, when they concealed his physical flaw. According to local customs and traditions, the bride saw the groom only before the wedding. The groom did not say a word during the first meeting due to his “shyness,” his relatives explained. The groom's father signed the official marriage contract.

The day after the wedding the young wife realized her husband was deaf and dumb. The woman and her family accused the groom's relatives of fraud. They went to the Shariat court in Ras al-Khaimah emirate with a requirement to nullify the marriage. After a quick probe the court abolished the marriage.
