Moscow hotel Intourist to be demolished

The demolition of the Intourist hotel is continuing in Tverskaya street /the centre of Moscow/. Workers are currently dismantling aluminum panels and windows and, simultaneously, technical equipment.

The Intourist hotel was built in the early 1970s and, as Muscovites believe, was in dissonance with the surrounding architecture. The building has 24 floors and a number of underground facilities. Its architectural volume is about 150,000 cubic metres. Today, the municipal authorities are becoming stricter with regard to the preservation of the city's historical centre and hence, decided to correct the mistake of the past. Intourist will be replaced by another hotel grouping well in the surrounding architectural landscape.
