Moscow to host international conference against AIDS

An international conference against AIDS is being held in Moscow on Thursday.

The conference, which gathered officials from every country of the Commonwealth of Independent States, is dedicated to cooperation between state and public organizations in an effort to implement a program of actions to counteract the spreading of AIDS throughout the CIS, reported the press service of the Russian health ministry.

Among the participants in the discussion are Russia's first deputy Health Minister Gennady Onishchenko and officials from the World Health Organization, the Russian Red Cross, anti-AIDS centres of CIS countries and other establishments.

The aforementioned program was adopted by a group of states and was meant as a follow-up on last year's United Nations resolution against AIDS.
