From St.Petersburg to Odessa afoot

A 50-year Russian, Andrey Peterburgsky covered a 2,223 kilometer distance between Russia’s St.Petersburg and Ukrainian city of Odessa afoot. Two more people joined him on his way; the three travellers met with journalists on Tuesday.

Andrey Peterburgsky started on a walking tour on March 21, on the vernal equinox day. Objective of the march is to propagandize friendship and peace between the Slavic brother nations. The march runs via several Russian, Belarussian and Ukrainian regions. Andrey started on the march with three companions, who one by one abandoned him and stole his money, maps and other things. However, the man met more people on his way who wanted to join the march as well. But the people could not bear difficulties of the walking tour and gave up, only two devoted men kept on walking with Andrey.

The men plan to reach Ukrainian city of Sevastopol. The travellers often spend nights in the open air, or in abandoned houses or in haylofts. Robbers attacked Andrey Peterburgsky several times already. But in most cases, people are kind toward the travellers, they help with food, money and shoes. By the way, Andrey is wearing out the seventh pair of shoes now. The brave men are going to recommence the march in several days.
