Names of winners in the competition for 150 russian scholarships to be announced in Moldova

The names of winners in the competition for 150 scholarships presented in 2002 to Moldova by the Russian education ministry will be announced on Wednesday in Chisinau, the Moldovan capital. The competition was conducted by the joint commission of the Russian embassy and the ministry of education and science of the republic. Director of a Chisinau lyceum, chairman of the Russian cultural centre in Moldova Yevgeny Okhrimenko, who is a member of the commission, told RIA Novosti that "there were four times more claimants for the right to study in Russia than the number of scholarships." This is explained, Okhrimenko believes, above all by the high level of the Russian education which gives certain guarantees to find a job in the future. "The participants in the competition openly said that they would like to remain in Russia if they won." And this concerns not only Russians but representatives of other nationalities as well, including the Moldovans," Yevgeny Okhrimenko emphasised.
