Three Federal Programmes For Chernobyl Victims In Preparation

Three additional federal programmes are now being elaborated, to provide aid to rescue workers who suffered damage in clean-up operations in the wake of an accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power station, Sergei Shoigu, Russian Minister for Emergencies, said Thursday. Appearing at a memorial meeting today, marked as Day of Commemoration of victims of the Chernobyl catastrophe, Shoigu said that these programmes envisage help in providing housing for Chernobyl victims, support of Chernobyl children, and medical rehabilitation opportunities. Three other federal-level programmes to help "liquidators" of the aftermath of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power facility are already being implemented, stressed Sergei Shoigu.
