Russian gymnasts Alina Kabaeva and Irina Chaschina have been suspended for one year after failing dope tests at the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane, the international gymnastics federation decided today.
Kabaeva was stripped of her World Champion title. Their coach Irina Viner said the decision is purely political: the doping test probation was held with mistakes, and Russian sports officials are going to place the protest.
