Trial Of Chechen Terrorist Salman Raduyev In Dagestan Drawing To An End

A trial of Chechen terrorist Salman Raduyev and his accomplices, being held in Makhachkala, the capital of the Republic of Dagestan, has entered its final phase. On Friday, a court session in the Supreme Court of Dagestan began with a speech by Raduyev's defence lawyer - Salman Arsanukayev. Raduyev's lawyer tried to give a political colouring to the trial. Meanwhile, as early as Wednesday, Prosecutor-General Vladimir Ustinov in his speech for the prosecution emphasised that there were no political undertones in the case. He demanded a life imprisonment for Raduyev. The defendant's final plea is expected later today.
