Female Motor Rally Participants Leaving for USA

The participants of the Woman Round-the-World motor rally have completed the Russian phase of the event and will leave for the USA on Wednesday.

As RIA Novosti learned from a source at the Government of the Sakha Republic (Russia's region in Eastern Siberia), despite the snowstorm and drifts, the expedition reached the settlement of Provideniye, the end of the Eurasian continent on Monday evening, where they will get on the North Forum-rented plane.

On March 5 they will fly over the Bering Strait to the town of Nome, where they will leave by rented cars for Anchorage, where the women will meet the representatives of the North Forum public organisation and Alaska people.

On March 7, the expedition organisers and the Government of the Sakha Republic are planning an Alaska-Yakutsk link-up. The participants will tell about their impressions and the first days in the USA.

The expedition will travel to New York along the highroads of Canada and the USA. Then flying over to London, they will travel by rented cars across Europe to St. Petersburg. The women are planning to reach Yakutsk on April 20-25, until the season of bad roads sets in.

On Tuesday Oksana Novgorodova, the head of the expedition, said that the women felt great.
