Ski Racing for Clergy

Voronezh was the site of the first ski races for the clergy, with over a hundred Sunday school teachers, church deans and seminary students attending Voronezh-Lipetsk Eparchy competitions, reports the Voronezh administration press-service.

Parishioners aged 14 to 60, too, went on ski for distances of two (women) and three (men) kilometres. "This is exceptionally beneficial because the clergy usually follow inactive lifestyle. Meanwhile, we know that a sound mind can be only where there is a sound body," said Pavel Bryazgunov, chief of the regional sports authority.

The Voronezh-Lipetsk Eparchy has already applied to the local sports authority to stage similar competitions in other kinds of sport and games, such as track and field events, swimming and even football
