Galina Vishnevskaya's Center of Opera Singing Presents a Premiere

Galina Vishnevskaya's Center of Opera Singing presents its first performance, Mikhail Glinka's "Ruslan and Lyudmila," which premieres on January 24.

The premiere is going to be an examination for the Center's students, rounding off their first term. Over the past five months of studies, according to Center teachers and its head Galina Vishnevskaya, soloists achieved success and are now capable of displaying their high professional level before the Moscow audience. The performance is produced by Galina Vishnevskaya and features the Center's chief conductor Vladimir Ponkin.

"Glinka's work is the foundation and the pride of the Russian opera school," said Vishnevskaya. "It is a performance with many arias in which the artists can demonstrate their vocal skills." Besides, she added, the contemporary opera theater rarely turns to the Russian heritage. The Center of Opera Singing is resolved to put an end to this unjust tradition.
