Prince Edward to Visit Branch of Award International Youth Organisation in Karelia

A British Royal family member Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, arrives on Friday in Karelia to study the activity of the AWARD international youth organisation branch which was recently set up in the republic. The Karelian education ministry reports that the movement is based in London and its founder is the Duke of Edinburg.

Prince Edward makes his visit in the capacity of an official representative of the British management of the AWARD scheme. He intends to meet members of the Karelian organisation which is the AWARD scheme's sole branch in Russia.

Russia has become the 104th country to involve its youth in this international movement. Organisation members participate in various projects aimed to render assistance to people, for example, care for the disabled, and attend various courses of arts and science under a special programme.
