13 year-old school student's world ice water swimming record to be put on Guinness Book

The world ice water swimming record set by 13 year-old school student Vitaly Fetiskin from the Altai Territory has officially been registered by the regional office of the Guinness World Records Book.

According to "Altai Guinness Sila" representative Igor Tkachev, Fetiskin was recognized "the world's youngest winter ice-hole marathon swimmer." The record was set under the following weather conditions: water temperature 0 degrees C, outside temperature -8 degrees C, wind, snow. The student covered 525 meters in 14 minutes 10 seconds.

Tkachev stressed that now the final papers on the record are being filled out. All the documents will later on be sent to the Moscow office of the Guinness Book of World Records, and then transferred to its London office. If Fetiskin's record is acknowledged at that level, the publication in the Book will follow.

Fetiskin set his record in November within the framework of the ice-water swimming tournament held in the Talmensky Region of the Altai Territory.
